Yikes McGee: Home

When Bush left Washington D.C., I thought the national nightmare was finally over, that Bizarro World would depart with him, but NO! In fact, it has gotten much worse - much, much worse. I feel a little guilty, okay, a lot guilty because I haven't updated my website, and pursued a mission of fighting the crazy right-wingers. Partly I needed a break and thought things would be fine for a while. Partly too, I wanted to get back to my actual career after having sacrificed so much of it over the long Bush years. And then partly, and this is the frustrating part, while it was easy to write about Bush and his evil cronies, the current political situation is comparatively so complex and confusing, that I've had a hard time getting a handle on it. I did write one song about Obama a few months ago, and have reposted it now as "Midterm Message to the President." It's definitely quite a bit more schmaltzy than my usual approach, but whatever. I have another new song in the works that I hope to record and post very soon. I've been thinking too about starting a blog, and I might do that.

I was hopeful that Barack Obama would be the antidote to the crazy Bush years, but it hasn't worked out that way so far. I blame the Republicans and the Media first, (yes, they are tied for first place) the Democrats second, the political activists who have succumbed to the obvious propaganda third, and finally Obama himself. I do believe he will work honestly for peace and justice, but he has not found a way to be effective yet. I feel bad for him - no president has ever been treated so badly since Lincoln (South Carolina swore they would secede if Lincoln was elected, and they did, before his Inauguration!). I cannot imagine what it must be like to be unfairly demonized every minute of every single day for 18 months. Of course, Obama has made some progress, but never enough to feel like we actually won that election. My recommendation to everyone who will listen is to realize that in '08 we only won a battle, and if we want to prevail in the end against the right wing, we should support Obama and push him to be more responsive to us and less appeasing to the opposition who refuses to negotiate in good faith. If I can think of a way to have a positive effect on the current situation, I'll pursue it. Good luck to us all. Still with hope for change,

Yikes McGee

Old Stuff, Bush Stuff... I condemn this "president" for misusing our military troops on a falsely represented mission promoting sinister political, and narrow-minded ideological objectives. My protest songs are a result of an unrelenting desire to have a direct hand in the downfall of Bush. I am driven to seek an end to the national nightmare, and a trend toward more liberal and progressive policies for peace and justice in the world. Welcome to my website. Thanks for visiting. While you're here take a moment to sign the Guestbook, and let me know where you are. If I can, I'd like to come and do a show in everybody's hometown!

Propagandy
